World models have proven useful in many robotic tasks, where robots act in an environment whose evolution prediction enables effective solutions. In general, world models predict the transition from the current state to the next as a consequence of a given action. These models can be employed in multiple settings and can be formulated in different ways.

While generic generative models are, in general, able to successfully produce outputs from natural language prompt (e.g., generating a sonnet, writing a report, creating an image), interaction with the physical world is considerably more challenging due to the continuous evolution of the environment and the incomplete knowledge of the future states.

The predictions provided by the current world models, identify a subset of the possible states and they drive the agent behaviour according to the learnt evolutions. World model that are implemented both as explicit and as implicit models, for example through a subsymbolic representation, provide an useful evolution in multiple experimental setting.

Important: This is an in-person event, with no virtual attendance option. We kindly ask all presenters to join us at the British Computer Society on the day.

Presentations can be either published work, or ongoing research.

The deadline for submitting a Expression of Interest to Present is the 16th April 2027
